The second generation tacoma was in production from 2005 to 2015. For this next generation, Toyota decided to slim down the engine options, and while the remaining four cylinder remains a frugal option, the v6 is much more powerful and still decently fuel efficient. The third generation tacoma has been in production from 2016 to at least 2020. It featured 2 engine choices, a four cylinder and a v6. The six cylinder is smaller than the last generation to increase fuel efficiency, but still has more horsepower and almost the same torque. The horsepower ranged from 159 to 278 and the torque ranged from 180 to 265.
